Amy Steel est une peintre qui utilise fréquemment des récits pour explorer les questions autour de l'identité et de notre relation au corps. Son oeuvre se concentre sur les moyens de représenter un érotisme centré sur la femme, livrée avec humour, affection et subjectivité féministe. Ses peintures suggèrent une façon de vivre le monde différemment, en présentant la sensualité comme le liant entre les choses. Elle forme un monde où la Nature, les animaux et les femmes communiquent entre eux à travers un langage ancré dans l'expérience corporelle et les perceptions sensorielles.
Amy Steel a obtenu son MFA avec distinction en 2019 à la Slade School of Fine Art et son BA en Beaux-Arts à la Goldsmiths University de Londres en 2015. Elle a reçu l'ACME Post Graduate Studio Award en 2019. Elle a exposé à Londres, Pékin et Paris.

Amy Steel is a painter who frequently uses narratives to explore issues around identity and our relationship to the body. Finding ways to represent a woman-centered eroticism sits at the center of the work, delivered with humor, affection and a feminist subjectivity. Her paintings are suggestive of a way to experience the world differently, framing sensuality as being the connective tissue between things. She reshapes a world where nature, animals and women commune with one another through a language that is rooted in bodily experience and sensuous perceptions.
